The Humble Stitch Project

A few day ago I got an email from Kasey Minnis, an amazing woman we met at the Indie Craft Bazar in Ft. Lauderdale last weekend. She bought one of our shirts, liked what we were doing and asked how she and her fellow crafters could get involved in helping our homeless brothers and sisters this winter. Long story short, by email three she had developed and launched the Humble Stitch Project. We are so stoked to have supporters like Kasey taking iniciative to help our homeless friends and hope you get involved in this fun project!

The Humble Stitch Project is a community effort to support the efforts of Humility Now in providing for our homeless neighbors. On December 25th, 2010, Humility Now expects as many as 500 homeless persons in our community to turn out for an event where they will be given food, toiletries, and clean clothing items. Our goal is to provide one cold weather item for each of our homeless neighbors - a hat, a scarf, a pair of mitts - knitted or crocheted by the hands and hearts of caring people in their community. Please help us give a little warmth to those who deal with so much coldness, not just in the winter, but throughout the year.

The Mission

To provide a minimum of 500 hand-stitched items of warm clothing (hats, scarves, gloves or mitts) for the homeless in South Florida.

How You Can Help

Knit or crochet items yourself
Teach others who would like to help how to knit or crochet
Donate unwanted yarn (preferably in darker colors)
Host a stitching party! Get your friends together to enjoy good company while you work
Network with other stitchers and tell them about the cause
If you own or manage a business, volunteer to serve as a drop-off point for our stitched items
